It is just about everyday that there is a new hot buzz word climbing it's way into the modern lexicon. Everybody uses slang in their everyday speech whether they are working or at home. In this modern time of social giants like Twitter, Facebook, and instant messaging, we all have been forced to pack in the most information as possible in the smallest available area. Using abbreviations and acronyms are so widely used that if you do not learn the latest social communication shorthand, you will be left in the past in a matter of minutes.
Twilf is the new 'IT' word, and is defined as: "Twitter Women I'd Love To follow" and "Tweets I'd Like To Follow." This definition is contrary to the definition which most people think of which is similar to Twilf; "Milf." I am sure most of us are familiar with the term Milf, but don't get this word confused with Twilf, The two words are different.
In recent news Sarah Palin was referred to as a Twilf from Al Gore’s Current TV. The news got a lot of attention on the Internet mainly due to the fact that most people have never heard of the phrase. When checking into the meaning of the phrase people found a plethora of sources that explain the word. There are definitions Which can be found that range from "One who farts in the bath tub" to "a person who is incompetent." The buzz surrounding this new word is currently caused by the simple fact that people want to know what it means and why Al Gore's"Current TV" Would call Sarah Palin a Twilf. I Like to think That Current TV had the intentions of downgrading Sarah Palin, but it backfired. This word becoming mainstream has now caused other people to want to become a Twilf, realizing that being a Twilf simply means to be a twitter that someone would like to follow. Everybody who has a twitter account wants to be a Twilf regardless of gender, race, politics or anything else. After all, nothing makes us feel better than knowing thousands of people are hanging on our every word.
